Moët & Chandon IceCategory: Champagne, Champagne Non-Vintage
For lovers of Champagne, the phrase “Champagne on ice” will usually conger up images of a bottle being presented in a bucket of ice rather than the drink being served directly on the rocks. However, in 2011 Moet and Chandon created a stir by designing a wine specifically to be served with a cube or two of ice.
The appearance of the bottle is nothing less than striking, the bottle itself comes in a bright white colour with gold lettering giving the presentation a thoroughly contemporary feel suitable for the contents of the bottle which are presented as a high fashion drink, rather than a traditional Champagne. The wine if served with the branded glassware is also presented with white goblet style wine glasses as opposed to traditional Champagne flutes, thus allowing the ice to be inserted into the glass.
From a style perspective, Ice Imperial is a non-vintage demi-sec style Champagne thus making it a sweeter offering than the usual brut and extra brut offerings. The wine is made from a traditional blend of Champagne grapes including, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Tasting notes of the wine include mango, guava, liquorice and peppermint making this an ideal wine to cool down with in the summer.
